ABOUT US

In 1968, at the age of 16, while attending Overbrook High School in Philadelphia, Leonard Gesualdo began learning his trade as a part-time carpenter. For three years he was employed with a carpentry contractor who provided framing services for MacElroy Custom Homes in the Gladwyne, PA area. The desire to further his knowledge in the carpentry field led him to a new employer. He began working for a neighborhood carpentry subcontractor, Jim Pelliccio, who at the time was providing trim carpentry for Glen Construction. During his 5-year employment with Mr. Pelliccio, Leonard Gesualdo was able to quickly master trim carpentry. At the time the job was in the Exton, PA area working for the Hankin Group.

The Hankin Group was rapidly developing Exton, PA and this opened the doors for Leonard Gesualdo to venture off on his own. In 1976, he decided to open his own business and began subcontracting the trim carpentry from Glen Construction. With himself and one employee Gesualdo Construction was established. With the Hankin Group transforming the Exton area into a large residential community this provided more work thus requiring more employees for Gesualdo Construction.

By 1978 Gesualdo Construction expanded its services to several builders in the Delaware Valley area providing mainly frame and trim carpentry services for new construction of residential developments.

In 1984 Gesualdo Construction broadened its services to private homeowners requiring renovations and additions. Advertising helped to get this new venture of the company off the ground.

By 1987, Gesualdo Construction ceased subcontracting carpentry services to new home developers and began providing services as a General Contractor of additions and renovations to private homeowners. The company provided stable employment year-round for it’s own carpenters as well as individual subcontractors in various building trades.

In 1988, a new opportunity presented itself when Gesualdo Construction was awarded bids from the R. & S. Strauss Auto Stores Company, based in New Jersey, to renovate five existing stores and construct a new store from the ground up. This contract extended the company’s services to the commercial building market. Gesualdo Construction continues to provide maintenance contracts with Strauss Discount Auto Stores today.

In 2003, Gesualdo Construction formed a separate partnership called The Monk Group, with two business owners, one a commercial realtor from Philadelphia, Steve Giannascoli of Triad Realty and the other a New York based entrepreneur, Michael Axelrod. The Monk Group purchased property in Gladwyne, PA with the intent to demolish the existing home and erect a custom designed English style mansion.

At this time advertising is not a necessity to procure business contracts. For over a quarter of a century Gesualdo Construction has been dedicated to providing its services with professional, quality, workmanship and continues to prosper mainly through referrals.

If you are seeking professional building services for a renovation, addition, or new construction you can rely on Gesualdo Construction to provide you with quality workmanship and dedication to complete the job to your satisfaction.
